What each week added, standing on the week before. The first block is three compiled lists — the Vilna refugee register and the two Kobe lists — loaded the evening this database was built. That was an afternoon of loading, not of research. Every step after it is somebody's week: a marriage record from a grandson, a naturalisation file, a ship's manifest transcribed by a stranger in Boston. The pale block at the end is the 604 people who still have nothing at all.
