The Kobe Jewish Community's refugee register, on its sheet of Czechoslovak subjects: Bedrich Mautner "& wife", aged 53, born at Teplice, a manufacturer, who arrived in Japan from Vilna on 14 February 1941, the day Ida Mautner's own line on the sheet of German subjects gives for her arrival. He is her husband; the family notes compiled with the register record a husband aged 52. He has no line of his own on the visa register, so the two sheets together suggest that he travelled on her visa, he as a Czechoslovak subject and she, though the visa register calls her Polish, as a German one.
