Jakob Dymant, a law graduate from Warsaw, fled the city on September 5, 1939 and reached Vilna on October 23, 1939. In Kovno he obtained a Curacao visa from the Dutch Consulate on August 1, 1940 and a Sugihara transit visa (number 884) on August 2, 1940, traveling to Kobe, Japan, where he arrived February 13, 1941. With help from Polish ambassador Tadeusz Romer he obtained a Burma visa, went via Shanghai to Burma, then fled to India after the Japanese attack in 1942, and immigrated to the United States in 1946, settling in New York and marrying Zofia Benet Dzialoszynska in 1948.
