Where this comes from
- The HIAS Shanghai registration of refugees, 1… — Arolsen Archives, Bad Arolsen, collection 3.1.1.3 (registrations of former persecutees in Asia), unit 19532. A page may be shown singly with this citation; Arolsen is told where it appears.
The HIAS Shanghai registration (Arolsen Archives, 3.1.1.3, unit 19532) lists Esza Perkal, a dentist from Poland, born on 15 September 1918 in Łuck, single, who reached Shanghai from Vilnius by way of Siberia on 2 July 1941. The register's compiled line, from Bluman and Kitade, gives her age in 1940 as 26, so the two sources differ on her year of birth. She named a cousin, Elia Schirman, in Tel Aviv. The list reads: HIAS Shanghai registration, entry 5628, Arolsen 3.1.1.3/78797301 (unit 19532): "PERKAL Esza (single), 15.9.18 Luck, Pol., dentist, 2.7.41 from Vilnius, via Siberia; 1. cousin Elia Schirman, Ajarkon 5, Tel Aviv; 2. Rabbi Leizer Jehuda Finkel, 23 Menachem street [Jerusalem]".
