  Szaja Dawid Bryskman became HaRav Yeshayahu Dovid Briskman. Born in Sarny in 1912, he studied at the Novardok yeshivas and then at the Mir, and kept a notebook of the yeshiva's learning dated at Kėdainiai, Kobe and Shanghai. After the war he went to New York, where he managed the Bais Yaakov seminary, served as rabbi of a Williamsburg synagogue and edited a Yiddish paper; he then married the daughter of the rabbi of São Paulo and worked for the Jewish community in Brazil, and in his later years was rabbi of the Stolin-Karlin synagogue in Tel Aviv. He died in the spring of 2005, aged 93 (*Dei'ah veDibur*, 18 May 2005). A birth in 1912 fits the register's age of 28 in 1940, and the Mir yeshiva, Kobe and Shanghai are this line's recorded road.
