Rita's Shoah Foundation testimony (interview No.34032, in Spanish, Buenos Aires 1997) traces the whole arc in its index: born in Berlin in 1926, she grew up in Kaunas where her father had his business; after the Soviet occupation the family hid its valuables, decided to flee, and obtained the Dutch endorsement and Sugihara's visa; they crossed to Tsuruga, waited at Kobe — where the index notes Argentinean officials and false documents among the migration preparations — and left Japan in 1941 for Buenos Aires, the passage backed by the JDC.
