A biography published by the Australian Jewish Historical Society names him: Henryk Ryszard Krygier, known as Richard, born 9 September 1917 in Warsaw, who read law at Warsaw University and married Roma there on 8 January 1939. In September 1939 he walked to Lithuania and the couple settled in Kaunas; they obtained Japanese transit visas through Chiune Sugihara, travelled by train to Vladivostok and by ship to Japan, lived for some weeks in a hostel in Kobe, and were both appointed to the Polish Relief Committee in Tokyo. Nine months later they left via Shanghai for Australia and landed at Sydney on 21 November 1941. He went on to found the magazine Quadrant. The register's Henrik Kryger, aged 23, born 1917, a lawyer, is this man; the surname's dropped letter is the register's. Found by David Rosen, September 2026.
