ASZKENAZY, ROZA, 55, female, widowed; reads Polish and German and writes; Polish nationality, Hebrew; born at Brzesc, last permanent residence Warsaw. The register has her as Roza Aszkenazy, 55, a clerk, going to Canada. Surname, given name and age agree exactly, and so does the destination: she was detained on board at Seattle on 7 July 1941 and her departure for a foreign port was witnessed the following day, the ship going on to Vancouver.
