Where this comes from

• The Shanghai Ledger — register of Polish citizens kept by the Consulate of Poland in Shanghai, 1934-1943 (original at the Archives of the Polish Ministry of Foreign Affairs, ref. 43/2003; digitised by the Library of Congress; indexed as…
Registered with the Polish Consulate in Shanghai (ledger entry 1473) — found on reading the ledger page itself — the ledger reads: Wertans Judyf (Judith), born 3 March 1901 Wilno — named as wife on her husband Jakob Wertans's Shanghai entry 1473, with daughter Nina born 17 April 1932 (December 1941, 925 Avenue Joffre).
• "California, San Francisco, Passenger Lists, 1893-1953", FamilySearch — index entry for Judith Wertans, 1947: born about 1907, Poland. Digitised from NARA microfilm publication M1410 (passenger lists of vessels arriving at San Francisco)…
FamilySearch's index of the San Francisco passenger lists, read by the archive on 20 September 2026, has Judith Wertans, born about 1907 in Poland, arriving at San Francisco in 1947 on the General W. H. Gordon. The register's compiled line gives 1908, and the two are 1 year apart, and the name occurs once on the register. The ship's manifest heading says she sailed from Shanghai, and a passenger born in Poland landing at San Francisco in 1947 from Shanghai is the route's end: the refugees who waited out the war there. So the entry is taken as this person's under the archive's rule of 19 September 2026 for records from the route. The sheet is NARA microfilm publication M1410, film 394, image 205, read by the archive on 20 September 2026.
• United States, Census, 1950 — FamilySearch, index entries read 24 October 2026
FamilySearch's index of the 1950 census, read on 24 October 2026, has Nudzif Wertans, aged 42 and born in Poland, as the wife of Jacob Wertans in New York City on 2 April 1950. The given name, the age, the husband and the daughter agree with the register, so she is taken as this woman.
