  Bencjan Magazanik spent the war in Shanghai. The HIAS list of refugees who left Shanghai on 31 December 1946 aboard the *Hwa Lien* for Australia includes Benzion Magazanik; the name is his alone on the register, and the ship carried refugees on the route he had travelled. He settled in Melbourne as Ben Magazanik, and died there on 26 August 1967. His stone in the Jewish section of the Melbourne General Cemetery names him in Hebrew as Ben-Zion son of Moshe, and remembers him as the beloved husband of Raja. The register's Bencjan is the Hebrew Ben-Zion, and the stone's Melbourne agrees with the destination the Hwa Lien list gives; the name occurs once on the register.
