The Ginyo Maru sailed from Yokohama on 24 October 1940 with a handful of Polish passengers holding no American visas, bound beyond the United States: the inspector at Honolulu ordered them kept on board on 7 November, shore leave was refused at San Pedro, and the ship left San Pedro on 20 November 1940 with them. Its manifest has Czarna Fefer, aged 65, a widow, Polish, born at Warsaw, last residence Vilnius, on the line below Chawa Szmaragd (No. 293). The register has no age for the line; the name occurs once on the register, and the ship, the date and the Vilnius residence are the route.
