Rick Salomon's uncle was issued Sugihara transit visa number 27 in Kaunas, Lithuania in 1940. He was among the more than 2,100 Jews saved by Chiune Sugihara, escaping Eastern Europe through Soviet territory and Japan.

Listed in the Sugihara Database among visa recipients of Polish nationality. A Sugihara transit visa was issued on 26 July 1940.

His uncle was issued number 27. Rick's father and uncle were two of the lucky ones who got those documents.

  The HIAS Shanghai registration (Arolsen Archives, 3.1.1.3, unit 19532) lists Abram Salomon, a lawyer born on 23 May 1912 in Mława, single, who reached Shanghai from Vilnius by way of Siberia on 24 February 1941, and notes that he emigrated to Australia in 1941.
