Where this comes from
Yad Vashem, featured artifact: 'Menus from a Japanese ship carrying Jews who escaped the Holocaust' — the Jaglom family. Yad Vashem Artifacts Collection. Read 2 October 2026. Yad Vashem holds menus from the Japanese ship that carried the Jaglom family from Vladivostok to Japan. Its account says that Mozes and Klara Jaglom of Brisk crossed into Lithuania in 1939 with their nine-year-old daughter, left in the autumn of 1940 'thanks to the transit visas through Japan that they received from Sugihara', went by the Trans-Siberian Railway to Vladivostok and by sea to Kobe, then sailed to Bombay, where they stayed close to eighteen months before reaching Palestine. The daughter kept the menus and gave them to Yad Vashem. It is taken as this line's because Jaglom occurs once on the register, and the wife and the child of about ten agree with the compiled list.
