  FamilySearch's index of the San Francisco passenger lists, read by the archive on 20 September 2026, has Szymon Malowist, born about 1898 in Poland, arriving at San Francisco in 1941. The register's compiled line gives 1897, and the two are 1 year apart. The name occurs once on the register, and a Polish-born passenger landing at San Francisco in 1941 fits the route through Japan, so the entry is taken as this person's under the archive's rule of 19 September 2026 for records from the route.

  The National Archives' passenger list of the Asama Maru (FamilySearch's copy) records Szymon Malowist, 43, a physician from Łódź, sailing from Yokohama in February 1941 with his wife Maria and their daughter on US visas issued in Tokyo, bound for New York. He named his father, Wolf Malowist of Łódź, as his nearest relative. The age is exactly the one the register's compilers recorded, and his wife and twelve-year-old daughter are the family they list; the register had him bound for Palestine, the sheet takes him to New York.

  Dr Szymon Małowist, the Łódź physician, built his later life in the United States, where he became chairman of the association of Jewish physicians from Poland. In August 1958 he was one of seven American physicians who came to Jerusalem for a symposium of the medical school there (Maariv, 4 August 1958) (National Library of Israel, Historical Jewish Press).
