The National Archives' passenger list of the Heian Maru (FamilySearch's copy) records Ryfka Herc, born Hister, 40, an office clerk, sailing from Kobe on 16 October 1940 with her husband Jakob Szulim Herc, a journalist, and their daughter, bound for an uncle, Menachem Herz, in the Bronx, New York. The age is within a year of the compilers' record, and the husband beside her, Jakob Szulim Herc, is the register's next entry with the same visa date; the register's Gister is the purser's Hister.
