  Icek Jakob Frydman, a dental technician born at Biała Podlaska on 17 September 1913, gave the International Refugee Organization his own account in 1950: Warsaw until September 1939, Wilno until March 1941, then across the Soviet Union to Kobe, where he stayed until September 1941, and Shanghai until November 1948. He left Shanghai on a transport for Poland, would not go on from Paris, went to Haifa in April 1949, and in February 1950 came to Genoa, hoping to reach his brother in the United States.
