Where this comes from
- The SS Brazil, Stockholm to New York, arriving 28 February 1942 — the passenger list, in FamilySearch's index of New York passenger arrivals (collection 1923888); found by David Rosen, 7 October 2026
Rosa Parnas, her daughter Cypriana Aschkenazy and son-in-law Henryk reached New York on 28 February 1942 aboard the SS Brazil from Stockholm, the friend at their destination given as Gustaw Potworowski of the Polish Legation in Stockholm — found by David Rosen in the New York passenger lists. The three names travel together as they stand on the register's three consecutive lines, Nos. 172 to 174, which is the basis of the match. They came west by way of Sweden rather than through Japan; the visas of 29 July 1940 were not the route they took. - National Archives and Records Administration, Alien Case Files (Record Group 566), catalog descriptions read through the NARA Catalog API
The National Archives holds an alien case file for Roza Parnas (also recorded as Roza Schaff), born 25 May 1870 in Poland, who entered the United States at New York on 28 February 1942 (file A7670403, NARA catalog NAID 608710524). The register has no age for the line, but the file's port and day of entry are the SS Brazil's arrival of 28 February 1942 already on this page, so the file is hers.
