  Robert Goldfrucht did not survive Shanghai. The death list of the Jewish community of Shanghai, compiled by Ralph B. Hirsch as "Central-European Jewish Refugees Who Died in Shanghai, 1940–1945" (January 2001) from the community's own register of deaths, has him at its entry for Goldfrucht, Robert, last residence Kaunas, born 7 May 1903, died 1 March 1944. The page, read by the archive on 18 October 2026 in the Leo Baeck Institute's Jews in Shanghai Collection on the Internet Archive, is shown here. He is the only Robert Goldfrucht on the register; the Kobe community's list gives his age as 36 in 1941, which 1903 fits within two years, and Kaunas, where Sugihara wrote him his visa, is the residence the death list records — one of only two Lithuanian addresses among some fourteen hundred names (Leo Baeck Institute, New York, Jews in Shanghai Collection; Ralph B. Hirsch, compiler).
