Where this comes from

• JDC Archives, New York, collection AR 33/44 file 53 (the Jewish Community of Kobe's returns to the JDC, 1941; Set I, item 00761) — Set I pp. 5–7 — "List… — "List of persons who left Japan for Shanghai in the month of July 1941", Nos. 1–15
He left Kobe on the Taiyo Maru on 18 July 1941, bound for Burma (the Jewish Community of Kobe's list of departures, July 1941 (JDC Archives, AR 33/44 file 53)). The list reads: "Kaplan Izrael Chaim". (Taiyo Maru, Kobe, 18 July 1941, destination Burma.)
• National Archives and Records Administration, Alien Case Files (Record Group 566), catalog descriptions read through the NARA Catalog API
A possible match, not yet confirmed: the National Archives holds an alien case file for Izrael Kaplan, also written Israel Chaim Kratka Kaplan, born 7 May 1904 in Poland, who entered the United States at El Paso on 27 June 1960 (file A12259277, NARA catalog NAID 40298408). The Kobe community's departures list on this page writes him Kaplan Izrael Chaim, the same two given names, and the birth year is a year off the register's; but there is a second Izrael Kaplan on the register, ten years younger, and an entry from Mexico in 1960 is far from the route, so the file is held as a lead.
