  Zygmunt Blecheisen made his first years in Australia in Sydney, where by 1942 he ran the Oriana Silver Grill in Macleay Street, Potts Point. In 1942 and 1943 the Sydney papers reported his applications, at 42 and 43, for exemption from military service while he arranged the Australian showing of the Soviet film *Moscow Strikes Back*.
