  Rabbi Szymon Wysokier reached the Land of Israel in October 1942. He was among the forty-one Polish refugees whom Ambassador Romer had got out of Shanghai on the exchange ship that August; Haaretz reported on 28 October 1942 that Rabbi Wysokier, stranded in Shanghai when the war in the Far East began, had been sent on to Palestine on the visa he held from before the war, while the other forty went to Tanganyika and to England (National Library of Israel, Historical Jewish Press).
