  Josif Orgler was born at Kraków on 26 November 1914, at 6 Bocheńska Street, the son of Izaak Ber Orgler and Perel née Lederberger, according to the Jewish birth register of Kraków, which enters him as Józef. The register's compiled age of 27 in 1940 is within a year of it, the Kobe list gives Kraków as his birthplace, and the name occurs once on the register.
