  The National Archives of Australia holds a 1941 application for admission to Australia made by a Jacob Rockman for Szlama Szmidt, a Polish national (series A261, 1941/148), found on RecordSearch on 3 October 2026. The Kobe community's list names his cousins as the Rochmans of Drummond Street, North Carlton, Melbourne, so the Melbourne family was applying for him in 1941. No arrival in Australia under the name was found among the National Archives of Australia's 57 Szmidt files, and the compiled list has him bound for Palestine, so whether he reached Australia is open and the file is a lead on where he was headed, not a record of where he went.
