  The Montevideo Maru's manifest, found by David Rosen and read in FamilySearch's index on 19 September 2026, lists Yakob Wolanow, born 1894 at Warsaw, arriving at Los Angeles on 12 December 1940 from Kobe with Syma Wolanow, born 1901, Celina Malka, born 1924, and Zozislaw, born 1929. The compiled line has Jakob Wolanow 46 in 1940, so born about 1894, and the Polish consulate's Shanghai ledger gives his family as Syma with the children Celia and Zdzislaw; the entry is his. David Rosen reads on the sheet that every passenger on that page was detained on board for want of a visa, the ship being bound on to South America; where the family went next is not yet known.
