  The United Nations Relief and Rehabilitation Administration's Shanghai office listed the Polish Jewish war refugees registered with it; the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum has indexed the 312 names. Ernst Helman is among them. The register has three Helmans — Jerzy, Boleslaw and Anatol — and one Ernst Hellmann, recorded as a rabbinical student who reached Shanghai with his wife Chaja; the given name settles which line this is, and UNRRA's list of refugee families names the couple together.
